some thanks-givings I'd omitted . . .

Regarding my last post, a number of you have contacted me to make sure I'm doing okay.  Which I so appreciate.  It's been super nice to be in your prayers and to receive your care.

A positive in the housing department this week is that Saturday, S was leading a conference all-day.  A local pastor, Kyle, asked how he was doing and S must have shared a little about our housing stress.  Sunday night, Kyle phoned to say he'd been talking to his lawyer brother who's up for offering us a bit of time pro bono.   How super is that?  He feels there's a possibility if enough things can come together, we may be able to get out of going to court this month.  Would be such a relief . . .

Cleaning through my camera, I found a few pictures that made me smile.  Abby took to wearing my old bandana sometime in September.  I stole it from my Mom sometime in Grade 8, but I certainly didn't look nearly so cute in it as A does!

Also, a couple of photos of the kooks I live with, putting stickers on their eyes.  Taking them off wasn't quite so funny, losing a few eyelashes!

Other good news is that the road work is slowly wrapping up.  It's been two months of construction, three weeks without a sidewalk and thus no mail.  Except for one day when a package from a friend arrived, minus the package and just her card's description of the chocolate for me.  Someone was having fun with my mail while it was waiting to be delivered! The construction has provided lots of entertainment for the kids and an education for all of us in how much work goes into re-doing a road.  My goodness!  I'm so relieved that the shaking and noise will soon stop.  We didn't have the recent earthquake experience of our Northern BC friends, but we have had so much ground movement that a strip of siding has fallen off our house!  It was hard to take the weeks the kids were sick and no one could rest.  I thought naps were a thing of a past, but suddenly on the days its been quiet, the younger two have happily gone upstairs and crashed.

Two Sundays ago, we were able to go out to Morden (an hour and forty minutes away) to spend the day with our friends and their two kids.  Had a super relaxing time in their new-to-them-but-super-old farmhouse.  It's big with lots of little closets and passageways to go up and down in.  It was nice they could be loud together and not bother any neighbours, nor us parents.  The hay bales made for fun climbing, too, with Iz scaring us as she ran across the tops, way out of our reach.  Ai is happy anywhere there's trains, and especially enjoyed the friendly farm kitties that came with the property.  Seeing the way the younger two initially mauled the cats was a good reminder that they're still not quite ready for pets (much to S's relief!).

Another super positive is that my parents arrived last night to stay with us till Remembrance Day! Unfortunately, S left this morning at 5:45 am - off to Montreal.  He's home for two days, then off to LA, so only overlapping with my parents a short time.  They'd wanted to come help me out - so how nice is that.  :)    I'm sure I'll have photo updates in the days ahead . . .

Hi Ann, I'm sure you're having a great visit with Mom and Dad... say "Hi!" The farm visit looks fun, how great to have friends on a farm, every kids' paradise. I'm still very unimpressed that your mail would be held the whole time you have road construction, that is just not right! Susan :)

Weird with the mail, I know. It took me over a week to realize that was what was happening, so not great with the random city water bills and such that arrive. I'm glad it's almost done! And yes - nice to have Mom and Dad, though the kids and I are all sick! Just hoping we don't pass it on . . .
