She is the Dancing Queen

"E's birthday party was the best party ever!"  And for a girl like A, who has always been into dress-up and displays her own fashion flare, it certainly was!  Creative Stage Emporium is a fun little Winnipeg business that hosts parties where kids try on costumes for two and a half hours (with a cake and present intermission).  Half of the room has skirts, dresses, pants, shiny tops of all sizes, racks of shoes, hats, scarves and other accessories to put on as you like.  The other half of the room has the table and chairs for the cake and parent hang-out area.  In the middle is a fun, lit-up 'runway' for the kids to walk down after they're dressed up with a photographer waiting at the end to take their photos.

She and E particularly, got what this party was all about.  They walked with hips swaying to the music, twirled for the photographer, posed with hands on hips, heads tilted, shoulders out.  I normally have to bribe A to look at a camera, but this time, she was in her element and fortunately, not too modelesque.  Still just a sweet 6 year old who likes to play dress-up.

As consistent as her love for cats, A's favourite colour has always been purple.  So she was thrilled when the theme for one of the 'fashion shows' was for everyone to wear purple.  Problem was that once she found this dress, she just didn't want to take it off!  She had to though, as the last themed dress-up event was to find an outfit that was "Not my Style."  The other parents had to outfit their kids in things that were ugly, but not me.  A. right away went about to find something, saying, "It has to be pants.  I hate wearing pants."  Which she does and will be her challenge living in a cold winter climate!  She found herself a red leather jacket and slacks - I hope to have a picture to post of that later.  :)

It's now October 2nd - here are a few of the pictures that A was given by E's Mom today:

Even I got into the 'Not my Style' dress-up.  Easily done as there weren't any T-shirts or jeans around!
