One month down (from October 3, 2011)
Over the past month, time has had no sense of rhythm to me. Some weeks - well, I've only had four - I can't wait for Friday. The week's schedule has been too busy and I've been tired. This week, however, I woke on Friday and was so convinced it couldn't yet be the end of the work week that I had to check online. It was a week of still being a little sick, not having much energy or motivation to do some of the projects I should, and having much sunshine. I'd been in a time warp of exploring parks with Ai and Iz in the mornings that I hadn't accomplished enough to deserve a Friday! Wish I'd had my camera on some of those mornings, as we were in some really nice areas with the trees turning. Not fair, though, for those of you in the rains of Vancouver this past week.
This was a park south of the airport, which while not the prettiest, made for some exciting flyovers for the kids. It's wild that at 9:30 a.m. on September 27th, Ai was wearing shorts! Our friends in Granisle had snow this week!
While in our temporary home, A is not yet on the bus route for school - something she'll be come December as our 'for real home' is in the catchment for bussing French Immersion students. For now, this means that S is car-less as I need to drop A off each morning and pick her up mid-day. He's been biking a lot, but this past Tuesday his pedal fell off early on his way home. He ran to work Wednesday but had such a bad blister that we picked him up. Meant that a few mornings and afternoons this week, we dropped S off or picked him up from work - always exciting for the kids as he works near Assiniboine Park. We had a few fun detours there this week again.

S had a few evening meetings, an all-day Saturday meeting and a preaching engagement on Sunday morning so not much for a weekend. I feel rather badly, as I'm hanging out in playgrounds while he has a heavy work load, navigating a new job. Here's us at the 'Tot Lot' just around the corner from us on Saturday morning. A's glam birthday party last week has meant that suddenly, she wants me to take lots of photos of her or else pretend she's the photographer! Funny . . .

Sunday we left at 8:20 a.m. for Lowe Farm, a small rural community an hour away, not knowing that there was construction happening on the gravel road just before the town. Meant we had to detour on dirt roads and over ditches to get to church - our first experience in how Google Maps may give the most direct way to get to a place, but not necessarily the best way! We were a bit late, but it was a good morning all the same. Lots of friendly people and a good Thanksgiving dinner downstairs after the service. The bonus for that day was the little feeling of, "Ah, we're home" once we go into the West End. After the flat of the prairie, the beautiful tall trees and life of the city felt nice and familiar. The kids were just happy to get home, out of the van and on to the swing set (and in bed for Iz). And did I mention A's new fascination with the camera? We just need to get a hair stylist to help us out . . .

Hey, I really like Aiden's shirt. Sigh, memories!
Me, too. I love that certain clothes he wears brings back memories of various nephews from the corners of my mind. Hand-me-downs are great for the budget, but sentimentally, as well. Thanks for saving them all for us! :)
