Transplanted out of Vancouver and hoping to shoot down some roots in Winnipeg for a good long time. Here's to sharing the process with our family and friends back home, along with pictures of the kids as they grow in this place.

A sweet reunion
After ten days away to Vancouver, S and Iz returned from their trip Tuesday afternoon. Ai had to miss his nap, but really enjoyed exploring the new Winnipeg airport. It opened October 31st after many years of construction. It's super nice inside, vastly improved over the older one and apparently quite environmental. S and I had wondered about all the glass windows in such a cold climate, but with all the sunshine, it apparently helps with the heating costs!
S & Iz's plane was a little delayed, so with the play areas still under construction, we ended up riding the elevator and getting donuts :). Made for one very over-tired, very hyper boy once Iz and Daddy came down the escalator! We were the focus of much attention as people tried to figure out the connection between these two little kids hugging and screaming, then running around chasing each other. Some obviously thought it very cute, while other's weren't so happy with their jubilance! I wish I had brought a video camera, as I couldn't capture them on camera - they were too quick, too excited. I was too busy trying to keep them off the luggage carousel! The nice parenting moment for me was when they just wanted to hold each other's hands on our way to the van, catching up and comparing notes on what they'd been up to.
Unfortunately, the cuteness rubbed off after nap time and they were back to squabbling! They're a funny little two-some. Completely opposite, very intense together. But for all the scrapping, Ai really is happy to have her home, as are the rest of us. We're so thankful to Iz's birthmom's family for helping foot the bill to fly her out there. And thankful for all you who cared for her in our absence! She had a wonderful time away and we've enjoyed hearing her share what she did at each of your homes.
As for homecomings, S still has one more trip before we get possession of our house next Thursday. He's off to Saskatoon from Sunday to Wednesday! Makes it a little complicated to meet with lawyers and close the deal, but hopefully the details will work out well enough. We won't be doing the big move until Saturday the 4th. That way S's co-workers are available to help with the lifting and it gives us two days to clean out the new house, get things settled into the kitchen and then do the big heave-ho.
For the months of October and November, S has been on the road for 31 days. It has been hard on me and the kids - but I get the most empathy for it (and I'll take it!). The reality is that it's far harder on S. It's been exhausting - meeting new people, engaging socially all day and often on very touchy or emotional topics, sleeping in new beds, etc. Good, but a bit too much all at once. As far as I know, there are no more travels on the horizon until the new year, so we all anticipate having some home time together - in a real home!

Great--so glad you'll have time to settle into your beautiful new house together! Wish I could help you move.
I wish you could, too! The kids would love to see you (as would I)! Are you off to Korea soon?
