| "Happy (historically accurate) Valentine's Day!" by Andy Campbell |
Not that it's really that funny, but just shows how far we've come that I feel the need to make pink drinks or special heart-shaped meals (which one day I hope to be organized enough to do)! Thank goodness the teachers provide the parties and all I need to do is make sure the kids remember to pack their Valentine's cards for classmates. It was PJ day at school, for whatever reason, but Ai refused to wear anything but normal clothes. A likewise refused, but only because she wanted to wear her special skirt with hearts. She was stylin' when she stepped off the school bus, reminding me how great she looks in true red, black and white. She tried to evade all of my photo attempts . . .
Good thing I got a photo when I did, as within minutes, the Queen and "Zebra Princess" had replaced my Valentine cuties.
It was a pretty mellow, fairly cold day - Ai's first day back to school after a sick week. We decided to skip the Stolen Sisters event we try to partake in and instead walked over to a little Chinese restaurant. Was a real treat - not quite as nice as a date night, but still a good break from the daily dinner routine. Sitting, relaxing even, at the table reminded me of how eating/being out is slowly getting easier with the kids.
I had a reader,
. . . a Waldo-finder,
and a colourer.
A welcome change from antsy kids falling off their seats or Ai's move of knocking a chair backwards while he's sitting in it. It would have been hard to imagine this scenario last Valentine's Day! Having it happen made the day rather sweet.
I hope you had a nice one and felt loved, regardless of whether you got "Valentined" or not.

Looks like a lovely time! There is hope... you will be eating out more in the foreseeable future! The girls look beautiful, whether dressed up or "dressed up"... Happy Valentine's to you, too. :) Susan
Thanks, Susan! My girls are following the big sister/little sister pattern of our family, where the oldest one is more into pretty and fancy clothes, the younger is a little less concerned about her appearance - though she's more of a tomboy than I ever was! :)
