Sending Winter out Well!

This weekend in Winnipeg we broke a few weather records - reaching a high of 21 C yesterday and 23 C today.  Apparently the daily highs we normally reach at this time of year are around 0 C, so this is definitely strange, though welcome.   I think most of the city found it weird to have ice-skaters on the Red River one weekend and absolutely no snow or ice the following!   It felt great to leave the back door open and not worry about bugs flying in.

S was busy leading a conference on Saturday and had the van, so the kids and I decided to figure out a bus service we'd heard about - The Downtown Spirit.  Downtown Winnipeg has three different free bus routes that go through the city core, Exchange District and to the Forks.  There's a station that's 10 minutes or so from our place, so we walked over and made the Millennium Library our destination.

Pretty impressive signs with all the expected arrivals

The kids loved it and I'm happy to have discovered a service that helps us get out, avoid pay parking and not have to take our bikes (something we can't do as a family until A is fully able to do it safely in a busy area as I have the other two in the bike trailer).  And they had fun on their walk checking out the many buildings with murals (one of the things I like about living in our area - so colourful!) and noticing other things of interest.

Today I ended up doing a few errands in the morning with Ai and Iz, so as a treat we explored St. Vital Park in the south of the city afterward.  I'm sure we'll be back now that we've seen how good it is . . .

Overall, it's been a lovely prelude for the first day of Spring tomorrow.  Though I'm guessing we'll be shocked back to reality soon enough with cooler weather.

Glad you enjoy it, Mom. Was originally started for all you parents and my sister, but now I do it for me, too. :) The weather has been such a gift . . .

Me, too! April is still a pretty risky month to visit in terms of weather, I'm guessing! But at least no bugs :).
