The weekend was a lovely gift of warmth. We experienced highs of +4, which felt super after a week that hadn't been particularly sunny or warm. We enjoyed a morning trip out to the Forks on Saturday and played there on the actual Forks - right on the ice where the Assiniboine River joins the Red River. It was wonderful to watch all of the skaters going by on their path and anticipate next winter when we can give it a try with kids just a little bit older (and a back-up toboggan for when it doesn't work). The highlight for all of them was Iz needing to go to the bathroom. With no chance of getting to one in time, we waited till pedestrians were clear and she "peed like a dog in the snow" (that's in her words). She was thrilled! Ai has been asking to go out in the backyard instead of using the toilet since. I don't think so . . .

Sunday we enjoyed a little trip to our other favourite place - Assiniboine Park. The toboggan run was all melted, but we still had a fun run through the playground and 'forest.' It was a bonus that one of A's bus-mates was there, too. I always enjoy meeting the kids she encounters every day - and she always enjoys an addition to her siblings.
This morning, even with daylight savings and needing to catch the bus at 8:30 am, A was ready to go early. I've wanted to take a picture of her in her cool boots that we'd won in January. For once, she was into that idea. So here she is, waiting for the bus. I love her with no front teeth - makes her look young again despite her height.
The rest of the day was uneventful enough. I took Ai and Iz out puddle-jumping for an hour in the morning. There are numerous mini-lakes and mini-streams from the sudden melting of snow, assisted by the many potholes in the streets. Meant lots more laundry, but a really fun time getting soaked. It even rained - first time since early November - so we three loved it. Tomorrow I think we'll go out on clean-up duty as it's amazing how much garbage and gravel accumulate through a winter, especially in a downtown area. It's really not very pretty out there. But it's at least nice and warm this week - with a high of 22 C expected on Thursday (along with rain)! It's a welcome break to get out of the house after our long sick streak indoors, and thankfully, the kids are pretty-much better and can enjoy it.

Abby looks so sweet, and she does look younger without her teeth but still older all at the same time. Can't wait to see you all soon! love,Susan
Thanks to the styling coat you gave her - and the skirt, too, I think. She is sweet - and we can't wait to see you soon, as well!
